Team profile

Osasco Volei Clube return to the FIVB Club World Championship following their absence in the last two editions. It will be their sixth apperance in the competition overall and they have been on the podium in every single one of their previous excursions.

The club their only gold medal in 2012 in Doha, after defeating Rabita Baku in the final. This followed bronze medals in their debut in 1994 in Sao Paulo (under their previous name of BCN Guaruja) and again in 2011 in Doha. In 2010, also in Doha, Osasco lost in the final 3-0 to Fenerbahce Istanbul. They picked up another silver in 2014 in Zurich, when they lost in the final to Dinamo Kazan.

Osasco have won the Brazil Superleague title a total of five times and have also been crowned South American champions four times - though none of the two since 2012.

Coach

Luizomar De Moura

Born in the city of Caruaru in 1966, Luizomar de Moura started his career as assistant coach of Uniban Sao Caetano in 1995

In 2000, Luizomar took charge of Rio's Flamengo and won the Brazilian Superleaue in his first season with the club. That result opened the Brazilian national team's doors to Luizomar, and he worked as assistant coach for Marco Aurelio Motta in 2001 and 2002.

Luizomar moved to Osasco in 2006, where he has been since. He led the team to second place in the Superleague in his first three seasons. In 2010 he led the team to their fourth national title, followed by their fifth in 2012. The year 2012 turned out to be very special when he led the team to the FIVB Club World Championship title.

Since 2003, Luizomar has also worked with the Brazilian Youth and Junior teams. He has been successful with both, winning Youth World (2005 and 2009), Junior World (2007) and South American Youth and Junior (2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010) Championships.
