For the first time in the competition's history, the 2017 edition of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship will take place in Kobe, Japan, from May 9 to 14.

Kobe follows in the footsteps of last year's first-time hosts Manila, the Philippines.

Volleyball first became an Olympic sport at the Tokyo Games in 1964 and the Japan has hosted numerous international volleyball events since, including the FIVB Volleyball World Championships, the FIVB Volleyball World Cup and the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Champions Cup.

The annual FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship has established itself at the pinnacle of women’s club volleyball and will feature eight of the best club teams in the world in 2017.
