Aiming to become only the second Russian club to lift the FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship trophy since the competition's inaugural edition in 1991, Dinamo Moscow will attempt to follow in the steps of Dinamo Kazan who finished ahead of Molico/Osasco and SESI-SP of Brazil in 2014 to win gold.
Dinamo Moscow were the eighth and final team to join this year's competition. The Russian 2016 Super League champions, who will go into the Club World Championship after competing with Dinamo Kazan in a best of five-match 2017 Russian Super League finals, replace former wild card selection VakifBank Istanbul, who ended up qualifying for the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship Japan 2017 via the European qualification spot after winning the European Champions League title in Treviso.
Moscow, who finished fourth in Treviso, join three other wild card picks Volero Zurich, Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul and Volei Nestle Osasco for the annual international club competition.
