Yanagita guides NEC Red Rockets in win over rivals Hisamitsu Springs

 
Kobe, Japan, May 14, 2017 – Mizuki Yanagita led the charge, as NEC Red Rockets made short work of their league rivals Hisamitsu Springs 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-22) to finish in seventh place in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship Kobe 2017 at Green Arena Kobe on Sunday.


Yanagita had a solid scoring stint from the attack line with 14 kills to lead the Kawasaki-based club. Sarina Koga, Akari Oumi and Haruyo Shimmamura had double-digit outputs of 13, 12 and 11 points, respectively.

NEC Red Rockets showed great familiarity of their opponents’ style of play, which helped them gain command in their first set victory. Hisamitsu Springs played better in the succeeding sets, but NEC Red Rockets got better breaks down the stretch to earn their first ever victory in the tournament.
