Poljak’s nine blocks help Dinamo Moscow beat NEC Red Rockets

 

Maja Poljak and Yana Shcherban recorded 17 points each for Dinamo Moscow

Kobe, Japan, May 13, 2017 – Maja Poljak’s superb net defence figured in Dinamo Moscow’s 3-1 (25-15, 22-25, 25-15, 25-18) win over NEC Red Rockets in the classification for fifth to eight places in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship at Green Arena Kobe on Saturday.


Poljak tallied 17 points built on nine blocks and seven attacks. Yana Shcherban also had 17, with significant contribution from the attack and service lines to lead the Russian champions.

Dinamo Moscow started off strong with a 25-15 first set win, then NEC Red Rockets responded with a 25-22 second set win, logging their first set victory in the tournament. Poljak's intimidating presence at the net prevented the Japanese to spark a run, leaving only Koga to run the offence for her team. The Russian club had better options on offence with Poljak, Shcherban, Anastasiya Bavikina and Bethania Dela Cruz scoring on all angles for the Russian win.
