Kobe, Japan, May 10, 2017 – VakifBank Istanbul coach Giovanni Guidetti was pleased with his players’ performance, as they executed his game plan well in their 3-1 win over Rexona-SESC Rio in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship Kobe 2017.

VakifBank Istanbul coach Giovanni Guidetti: “I want to congratulate my players. They have studied the instructions I gave them. I studied six matches that Rexona played. Tactics alone are not enough, you have to do it on the court. We had to play our best to beat them and we had to be prepared on the attack. We pushed hard from the start.”

VakifBank Istanbul captain Gozde Kirdar: “We played an incredible game today, as we followed our coach's tactics.”

VakifBank Istanbul player Lonneke Sloetjes: “We played good on blocks. We were in control in the first two sets, but they came back in the third. I'm glad we could win it after that. This is a very important championship and VakifBank wants to win everything.”

Rexona-SESC Rio coach Bernardo Rezende: “They served well and put pressure on our passing. We were also a bit nervous. We are a small team and they are a tall team and one of the best teams in the world. We have to be more clever in the way we play.”

Rexona-SESC Rio captain Regiane Bidias: “It was a difficult match. They were very strong. Their tall block gave us a tough time, but we also had some good points. We should not dwell on this loss.”
