Fewer mistakes led to Eczacibasi victory

Fewer errors in the match was key to their victory against Osasco Voleibol Clube

Kobe, Japan, May 10, 2017 – Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul limited their errors to just 15 in their 3-1 win over Osasco Voleibol Clube on the second day of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship Kobe 2017.

Eczacibasi captain Neslihan Demir pointed out that reducing their errors made a big difference in the match.

Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul coach Massimo Barbolini: “I am happy and proud with the way my team played. It was difficult yesterday. We played well against a strong team today. We won with the same weapons – good defence and coverage.

“We have to prepare for the Japanese team (NEC Red Rockets). They always have quick combinations and they execute everything in a good way.”

Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul captain Neslihan Demir: “The team played very well and were more organised in attack and defence. We have to think how to play our next match against the Japanese team.

“We made many mistakes yesterday, but today we had fewer mistakes and that is why we were able to win. These mistakes have a big effect on the result of the match. We have to play organised and with confidence from now on.”

Osasco Voleibol Clube coach Luizomar de Moura: “Eczacibasi have very top-level players, possibly the best in the world. It was a really tough match and we had to give our best in this encounter.

“In the first and second sets, we played our volleyball and we made few mistakes. In the third set we lost our concentration. Our service was not as effective and they capitalised on that.”

Osasco Voleibol Clube captain Gabriela de Souza: “They are a high-level opposition and they are the reigning world champions. We knew that we should not make mistakes when we play them. Unfortunately, we were unable to come back when we were behind.”
