Carol’s block party helps bring Rexona to Kobe 2017 finale

 

Ana Carolina Da Silva had a superb blocking performance for Rexona-SESC Rio with 10 blocks

Kobe, Japan, May 13, 2017 – Ana Carolina Da Silva (Carol) deflected 10 attack hits of Volero Zurich that led Rexona-SESC to qualify to the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship Kobe 2017 with a 3-1 (25-13, 25-16, 21-25, 26-24) win over Volero Zurich at Green Arena Kobe on Saturday.


Carol’s 10 blocks bulked up the team’s total output of 18, which gave Volero Zurich attackers to run the offence. Gabriela Guimaraes top scored for Rexona-SESC with 17 points, while Carol had 14.

Gabriela Guimaraes top scored for Rexona-SESC Rio with 17 points

Rexona-SESC read Volero Zurich’s game well and executed a great game plan against the European club. Rexona-SESC succeeded in their campaign and won the first two sets. Volero Zurich took the third set and established a lofty lead early on in the fourth set. The Swiss club struggled towards the end of the fourth set, allowing the Brazilian squad to bounce back and end set and match.
