Hisamitsu Springs celebrate Empress's Cup in Japan, ahead of hosting the 2017 FIVB Club World Championship next May.
Lausanne, Switzerland, December 26, 2016 - For the fifth year running Hisamitsu Springs have won the Empress's Cup after sweeping Hitachi Rivale 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-17) in the final, Sunday evening in Tokyo. The success comes just a few months before Hisamitsu Springs host the 2017 FIVB Women's Club World Championship in Kobe, 8-14 May.

NEC Red Rockets of Kawasaki, the only other team already confirmed to take part in the 2017 Club World Championship (as the reigning Asian champions) were knocked out of the Empress's Cup in the semifinals by Hisamitsu Springs 3-1 (25-19, 21-25, 27-25, 25-22).
In addition to Hisamitsu Springs and NEC Red Rockets, the 2017 FIVB Club World Championship will feature the continental champions of Europe and South America, as well as four wild cards to be determined.
